Creative Storytelling

This term, our Year 9 bilingual students took part in a creative cross-cultural storytelling project with Khunmaeyod, our partner school in the indigenous Karen community in Thailand.

Working in small groups, the students adapted well-known European fairy tales into short films, bringing classic stories to life using animated LEGO figures, hand puppet theatre and lay-flat animation technique, a visual storytelling method using arranged figures and objects.

The films were sent to our partner school, where students will watch the fairy tales and gain an insight into stories that have shaped the German culture. In return, the Karen students will share their own traditional stories, passed down through generations by the elders in their community. These tales reflect the deep connection of the Karen with the natural world and offer valuable lessons about living in harmony with nature, caring for the environment and respecting the balance between people and the land.
