Sommer-Forum ‘AquaAlliance’
Neun Teams mit Jugendlichen aus 20 Ländern haben gemeinsam im Juli und August 2023 online zum Thema “The Global Water Crisis” gearbeitet:
With recent extreme heat, droughts and floods worldwide, many scientists and politicians warn that how we manage access to clean water may soon become a matter of war or peace, death or life. Fear, blame and ignorance are not going to solve the problem.
In the AquaAlliance Forum, students from 24 schools representing 20 countries took on different national identities and developed a diverse worldview with their teammates. Their goal was to create a campaign that could convince their assigned community to take action to face the water crisis so that there will be a livable earth in the future. Each team was guided by a team coach, got feedback from a student consultant in their assigned country, and eventually submitted their creation to the panelists for judging.
Das Online-Projekt im Forum
Gemeinsam mit drei weiteren Schülern von verschiedenen Kontinenten hat Lemi über die Auswirkungen des Wassermangels in Marokko recherchiert und ein Konzept für ein Projekt entwickelt, das mehr Bewusstsein für das Problem schaffen soll. Mit ihrer Website und der hier kurz zusammengefassten Präsentation gelang es den Schülerinnen und Schülern, die 10-köpfige Jury von Global Education Destinations rundum zu überzeugen.
Drei Auszeichnungen
Lemis Team hat mit seinen Ideen alle Auszeichnungen abgeräumt, die zu vergeben waren: Von der Jury erhielten sie den Best Team Award und in einer öffentlichen Abstimmung wurden sie zu The People’s Choice Winners gekürt. Lemi selbst darf sich für ein Engagement während der Online-Arbeit außerdem über die Auszeichnung als The Best Representative im Forum freuen. Mehr geht nicht! 🙂
Ein Praktikumsplatz als Anerkennung für die erbrachten Leistungen
Für Lemi gibt es allerdings nicht nur Urkunden für die Bewerbungsmappe, sondern auch noch einen Platz im Praktikanten-Team von Global Education Destinations. Online dürfen die Praktikanten für echte Firmen an echten Aufträgen arbeiten und erhalten so einen ganz besonderen Einblick in die internationale Arbeitswelt. Yihung Mohs, Chief Executive Director at Global Education Destinations, schreibt:

Einladung zum Herbst-Forum
Anmeldungen für das nächste globale Online-Forum sind übrigens ab sofort bei Frau Heup möglich. Im Herbst geht es um das Thema “Green Jobs in the Green Economy”:
According to the International Labour Organization of the United Nations, the transition to a green economy is necessary for an environmentally sustainable future for the human race. More importantly, this transition is an opportunity to create decent jobs for all, especially underprivileged communities. Creative, sustainable and fair businesses are needed to lead the way.
This October, each of the 10-12 teams of students from 25-30 countries will be assigned a business as their Case Study Partner. Students will learn about the latest trends and technologies, research the environmental/social/economic impact their assigned businesses have on the community, and articulate their findings by creating a video through the lens of sustainable production (guided by Disney’s Sustainable Production team).
