Die Goetheschule wird Teil eines neuen Partnerschaftsnetzwerks von internationalen Schulen rund um die Welt. Im Netzwerk von Global Education Destinations engagieren sich aktuell Schülerinnen und Schüler aus IB World Schools in 20 Ländern für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung. Die gemeinnützige Organisation bietet die Möglichkeit zur Teilnahme an Buddies without Borders (BWB)-Online-Foren, zur Einrichtung von BWB Clubs an Schulen, die von Schülerinnen und Schülern geleitet werden und Nachhaltigkeitsprojekte umsetzen, sowie zur Teilnahme an Destination Workshops vor Ort mit Partnern aus anderen Ländern.
Mitmachen beim internationalen Online-Forum im Frühjahr 2023?
Wer die 9. bis 11. Klasse besucht und vom 25.3. bis 6.5.2023 am Online-Forum „Women and the Economy: The Best ROI for Humankind“ teilnehmen möchte, sollte sich spätestens bis Freitag, 3.2.2023, bei Frau Heup melden, denn die Teilnahme ist nur mit Empfehlung der Schule möglich. Es wird ein einmaliger Teilnahmebeitrag in Höhe von 50 Dollar erhoben. Die Teilnahme am Forum ist für CAS/KESS anrechenbar.
Im Forum diskutiert Ihr samstags in international gemischten Gruppen, tauscht Euch mit Experten aus und könnt an Vorträgen von Gastrednern teilnehmen. Die Treffen dauern jeweils 90 Minuten. Außerdem erarbeiten die einzelnen Gruppen im April eigene Präsentationen, wobei Ihr von amerikanischen College-Studenten unterstützt werdet. Neben Teilnahmeurkunden gibt es Auszeichnungen für die engagiertesten Schülerinnen und Schüler im Forum und für die besten Gruppen-Präsentationen.

Inhaltliche Ausrichtung des Forums:
According to the World Economic Forum’s report on Global Gender Gap (2022), it will take more than 100 years to close the global gender gap.
All over the world, women are paid less than men for doing the same jobs; girls receive less schooling than boys of the same age; females have less leadership and professional roles than males. Based on the analysis of the World Bank, if women are given the same opportunities as men, the world economy can grow by $28 trillion dollars. Solving the challenges women face in getting their fair share of opportunities may just provide the best return on investment in any country!
Meanwhile, many traditions expect and place a high value on women to be the primary domestic caregivers to children and the elderly (over 70% of unpaid caregiving hours are performed by women as reported by the World Economic Forum). How do we balance this essential need as the bedrock of a harmonious society while addressing the gender gap so that the entire humanity can benefit? What are the root causes of gender inequality in different parts of the world and what can be done about them?
In Spring 2023, we challenge future leaders to investigate the inequality and brainstorm solutions to create fair opportunities for women with families in mind.
