LETTER 1
Dear Mr Gholan-Hossein Mohseni Ejei,
We are writing from our hometown Essen to express our deep concern about the ongoing human rights violations in Iran. Even in Germany – a country thousands of kilometres away from Iran – the violence against peaceful demonstrators has been brought to our attention; especially the case of Sarina Esmailzadeh.
Sarina Esmailzadeh was killed at the age of 16 during the protests in the neighbourhood of Gohardasht in Karaj, Alborz province, on 23 September 2022.
According to information received from a primary source in Iran, security forces fatally struck her head with batons.
Her death is just one example among many.
We strongly urge the government to ensure the protection of the rights and safety of all protesters, regardless of their age and gender.
We implore you to take a stand against such brutal and unacceptable acts, and to work towards a peaceful resolution to the current crisis.
We look forward to your prompt attention and response in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Tonia, Amalia, Rosalie
LETTER 2
Dear Mr Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei,
We are writing to you to bring to your attention that 17-year-old Mehdi Hazrati was brutally killed and there seem not to have been any investigations regarding his murder.
He was attending a demonstration on 3rd November, and was fatally shot in the head by an Iranian officer of the law.
It has come to our attention that there has been no proper investigation regarding his murder. This is unacceptable.
We ask you to use your power to start an investigation in Karaj, so there can be justice for 17-year-old Mehdi Hazrati. We are writing to you on behalf of one brutally killed protestor, even though there are probably people dying this very moment while we are writing this very letter.
We implore you to take action, so the many tragic deaths of protestors are not being forgotten and each and every death will be investigated fairly.
Thank you for your attention regarding this matter. We look forward to your prompt response in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Johann and Oscar
LETTER 3
Dear Mr Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejej,
We, students from Goetheschule Essen, are writing to express our grave concern regarding the current situation in Iran.
Amir Hossein Basati was shot at the age of 15 during the protests in the neighbourhood of Kashikari in Kermanshah, Kermanshah province, on 21 September 2022. According to the information we got from Amnesty International, the riot police fired at him from a close distance. The human rights organisation Amnesty International found out that the victim’s family was not even informed about Amir’s tragic death.
The killing of Amir is a clear violation of international human rights laws and principles. We implore you to take action against these matters and hold those responsible fully accountable.
We strongly urge the government to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and fair trial for all citizens.
Yours sincerely,
Eva, Greta, Selin
LETTER 4
Dear Mr Gholam Hossein Mosehmi Ejei,
We are writing to express our grave concern regarding the murder of the 17-year-old Mehdi Hazrati.
According to the information we received from Amnesty International, Mehdi Hazrati was fatally shot in the forehead during the protests of November 3rd in Karaj, Alborz province.
We would like to bring to your attention the fact that it is a violation of human rights to use violence against demonstrators, especially children.
We implore you to take immediate and effective measures to hold those responsible fully accountable of the murder of Hazrati and all the victims who lost their lives during peaceful protests.
We would like to assure you of our support for the people of Iran and their right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression.
We look forward to your prompt attention and response in this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Helena and Arshida
